Spin filtering induced by a magnetic insulator stripe on graphene

چکیده

Proximity exchange interaction between graphene electrons and nearby magnetic insulators paves the way to create spin-polarised currents for spintronics applications. Different ferro- ferrimagnetic insulators, such as europium chalcogenides, yttrium iron garnet cobalt ferrite, have been proposed in literature induce correlations graphene. We theoretically study electronic transport properties of close proximity a strip insulator, when system is connected nonmagnetic source drain leads. To this end, we describe by means an effective Hamiltonian whose model parameters are extracted from first-principle calculations. compare spin-polarization electron current calculated number different aiming at elucidating effects various on efficiency device. In particular, demonstrate that polarization electric across device can be tuned source-drain voltage. conclude heterostructures based chalcogenides ideal candidates achieve high polarisation low temperature.
